When you are ready to publish, go to Dashboard > Settings > Reading > Site Visibility and select one of the top two options (Allow(1) or Discourage(2) search engines from indexing this site. If you allow, your site will be easier to find. If you discourage, it might not show up in search engines.)
Don’t worry, you can always take your site down temporarily if you do this too soon, just select option 3, 4, or 5.
