Justin Mendelson

Undergraduate Research Assistant (Spring 2018 – Present) 

Hometown: Trabuco Canyon, California

Justin was born in Trabuco Canyon, California, where he lived his entire life until moving to USC. He is majoring in Mechanical Engineering and plans to graduate in the Spring of 2021. Outside of his research, Justin pursues his dream of working in the aerospace industry, especially as a member of the undergraduate Rocket Propulsion Laboratory here on campus. Off-campus, Justin can be found backpacking, kayaking, or playing basketball.

Research Interests

Justin’s research revolves around developing a platform suitable for displaying the environmental data, especially with regards to water usage, power plants, and rising water temperatures, of the S3 Research Group in an informative and educational format for knowledge dissemination and outreach activities. He is also interested in finding trends within these data to better predict how environmental changes in the future will affect energy systems and daily power usage.

Career Goals

After graduating from USC, Justin plans to enter the aerospace industry, potentially as a propulsion or build engineer. Justin’s long term goal is to help make humanity a multi-planetary species and hopes to be an influential member of the drive towards this future.
