MUST WATCH: Pretesting Webisodes–they can answer all your pretesting and field testing questions (Posted on November 03, 2011)

Testing an educational material is one of the most important steps in materials development, yet it is often the step that is skipped or overlooked. This may be because of time constraints or lack of experience with testing materials. Whatever the reason may be, these webisodes offer great tips, tools, and suggestions that can help you with this process in a timely manner.

These webisodes are a series of 5 pre-recorded videos and 1 live webinar. The webisodes run anywhere from 10 minutes to 20 minutes and cover the following topics:

  1. Setting up Pretests – an overview of strategies for pre-testing, pilot testing and field testing materials, and ways to involve appropriate test audiences;
  2. Readability Testing & Suitability Assessment of Materials – strategies for testing reading level and suitability of materials for your target audience;
  3. Focus Groups – how to set up and run a focus group for pretesting materials;
  4. Intercept and Individual Interviews – how to set up and run intercept and individual interviews for pretesting materials; and
  5. Case Example– what to do with pretest results using a sample tobacco education print item.

The webinar will be a Live Question and Answer session with our expert Dr. Tess Cruz on Thursday, November 10th, 2011 from 10:30am – 11:30am. You can ask any questions about one of the webisodes or pose just general questions about pretesting and testing materials. Please send us your questions by noon, Wednesday November 9th. We will also be taking questions during the webinar.

The webisodes are a great resource because you can pick and choose which webisode you need to watch and better yet, you can do it at your own convenience. You can even watch them on the go with your smart phone.
