Origin of the Idea:

Inspired by Drake Related, we wanted to create a room with objects that encapsulates the Iovine and Young Academy.

From the Creator Studio to the XR Lab and Podcast Studio, our room allows the user to click around and find out what IYA is all about and learn what IYA has to offer.

Our Project:

Go to the slides to check out what we created and the behind the scenes process!

Takeaways:

PG: In this project, it was super interesting to see how all of the different prohrams and 3D tools come together and interact. I was mostly in charge of creating the original model of the room as well as the infographics. There were a few challenges in creating and accessing 3D models, and we had to forego some ideas about providing a 3D experience of the entire IYA building. We focused on creating a stimulating and seamless experience for the user to explore IYA.

Maxine: I assembled the final room in Aero with my team’s preparation facilitating a smooth process. While strengthening my Aero skills, I learned that projecting large files on a phone is challenging. If I had troubleshooted this earlier, I would have used Blender for nonessential objects and finished in Aero. Nevertheless, I’m proud of our collaborative work.

Edith: Overall, this final project was a great way to combine all the techniques we learned this semester! My group and I worked well to connect the physical component of laser cutting to the 3D designed AR experience and create an experience that we are all very passionate about. I hope that we can work with IYA to expand on this project!

Ashley: I was in charge of the Blender objects; I still find Blender to be pretty challenging with a high learning curve. However, I learned how to implement textures and colors into my work this time around which made it a more enjoyable experience.
