Recent advancements in AI present a substantial opportunity to revolutionize science and medicine. To actualize this vision, it’s imperative to create a new breed of models that are markedly more reliable and data-efficient, while also possessing enhanced reasoning skills. At the USC Center on AI Foundations for the Sciences (AIF4S), our mission is to establish theoretical underpinnings for contemporary AI, aiming to boost their reliability and reasoning abilities. Our specific emphasis is on crafting multimodal foundation models, encompassing streamlined architectures, algorithms, and processes for data curation, filtration and synthesis, tailored for groundbreaking uses in science and medicine.
