Dr. Choi, Joon-Ho, is the Associate Dean for Research & Creative Work and an Associate Professor of Building Science in the School of Architecture at the University of Southern California. Prior to taking the position, he worked as an assistant professor in the Dept. of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Building Performance and Diagnostics at Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Choi’s primary research interests are in the areas of advanced controls for high-performance buildings, bio-sensing controls in the built environment, smart building enclosure, passive building strategies, human-centered building environmental control, building systems integration, environmental sustainability, and comprehensive POE (post-occupancy evaluation), indoor environmental quality, and human health, and work productivity. He is currently a technical committee member of American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and is an active member of the International Society of Indoor Air Quality (ISIAQ), American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE), and Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association (KSEA). |

Aroussiak Gabrielian is a scholar-practitioner working across the fields of Landscape Architecture and Media Arts. She is co-founder and Design Director of foreground design agency, a critical landscape practice that works to dismantle structures of power and privilege that render specific humans, species, and matter silent. Her work in landscape media focuses on both materialist perspectives on the living world of landscape matter, and the practice of imaging and imagining landscape, addressing both landscape’s material and its representation. She is currently working on a book manuscript emerging from her Ph.D. dissertation, Encounters with the Anthropocene: Synthetic Geologies, Diegetic Ecologies, and Other Landscape Imaginaries, which aims to torque our imaginaries to help us re-think our interactions with both human and non-human agents on this planet. Geoffrey Von Oeyen |

Geoffrey von Oeyen is Principal of Geoffrey von Oeyen Design and Principal/Partner of von Oeyen Architects in Los Angeles and teaches and coordinates architectural design studios as a faculty member at the University of Southern California (USC) School of Architecture. In 2014, von Oeyen’s design work was awarded the Architectural League Prize from the Architectural League of New York, which included an exhibition, lecture, interviews, and a book by Princeton Architectural Press. He was also awarded a fellowship residency at The MacDowell Colony, during which he produced writings and drawings regarding his 2014 USC School of Architecture symposium, exhibition, and workshop titled Performative Composites: Sailing Architecture. In addition to his current faculty position at USC, von Oeyen has taught in various capacities at UC Berkeley, the Harvard University GSD, and the University of Cambridge, and has lectured about his design work at the Harvard University GSD, the University of Michigan, UC Berkeley, and Parsons The New School for Design. |

Gideon Susman |
| Energy and Sustainability Consulting for Buildings, Campuses, and Cities | |
| Gideon has thirteen years’ experience in sustainable design for all built environment scales. He has developed low and net-zero energy designs for buildings across the US, Europe, and the Middle East. Gideon recently worked with several University of California campuses to develop carbon reduction strategies, sustainable master plans, and low energy building designs. He has supervised Engineering Doctorates, and MSc research projects at the University of Southern California and Brunel University (UK). His innovative cooling system, known as NewMass, won the 2018 CIBSE Energy Efficient Product of the Year award. Gideon has led several large publicly-funded research projects, including the pan-European Building AdVent project, which created case studies of successfully naturally ventilated buildings across Europe’s three major climate zones. Gideon sits on the board of the Cooperative Resources and Services Project, which manages the development of the Los Angeles Eco-Village. | |
