Join USC in helping those impacted by COVID-19. Learn more about four new funds that will directly support those in need.

Right now, health care workers at Keck Medicine of USC’s hospitals and clinics have the gear they need to protect themselves and others as they care for patients with COVID-19.

But with the number of COVID-19 patients rising daily, leaders at Keck Medicine are asking for the community’s help in donating supplies now. That way, supplies will be ready if needed in the coming days and weeks to protect staff and patients at Keck’s academic medical center and outpatient clinics.

The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is comprised of an estimated 100 members of departments and divisions across the university who are dedicated to providing support to USC's students, faculty and staff in the event of an emergency.

The members include representatives from the USC Office of Fire Safety, the USC Department of Public Safety, USC ITS, USC Communications, USC HR, USC Housing, and more. The EOC's objective is to ensure safety while also providing an appropriate continuity of services and operations during a crisis.

Members of the broader EOC include experts on the crisis at hand who are university faculty and clinical professionals. In the case of the COVID-19 pandemic, USC experts in communicable disease serve as key EOC members who provide input and guidance on university emergency plans, responses and policies.

Within the broader EOC, USC has established several smaller EOCs that have as few as 15 people. These smaller EOCs serve specific purposes such as emergency support and business continuity planning for a particular school or department.

Yes. The USC Student Basic Needs Fund supports the students in our Trojan family who are experiencing financial difficulties at this time of unprecedented uncertainty. The fund assists with the following:

• Housing expenses
• Food insecurity
• Emergency travel
• Income loss related to closed workplaces
• Technology upgrades required for remote instruction
• Other unforeseen needs stemming from the current crisis

Students interested in applying for funds from the USC Student Basic Needs Fund should email Ally Hong, the manager of Student Basic Needs, at basicneeds@usc.edu. Ally and her team will work directly with each student to help connect him/her/them with opportunities for support. This fund is open to both undergraduate and graduate students who may need assistance with hardship caused by COVID-19.
