In today’s ever-changing technological era, I am deeply convinced that improving and optimizing the quality of indoor environments through the combination of artificial intelligence and smart control systems is not only a critical approach to achieving sustainable development, but also an essential direction for improving people’s quality of life and well-being. Therefore, I am very interested in researching the creation of ideal indoor conditions for people through the combination of artificial intelligence and advanced control systems. I would like to investigate how intelligent algorithms can be utilized to predict and regulate key factors such as temperature, light, and air quality within a building in order to automatically adjust the indoor environmental settings to more accurately meet the needs of individuals. This is particularly important in environments such as offices and hospitals, where user needs are diverse and complex. Furthermore, algorithmic research into how to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions is an important direction for the future of urban and architectural design. I strongly believe that the potential of combining AI and intelligent control systems for indoor environmental management is huge and that they will play an increasingly crucial role in the future of urban life.
Shreya Satodia
I am an Architect (B.arch) and studied Master of Building Science (MBS) at University of Southern California. I am interested to learn and explore the concepts of lighting design, net zero carbon buildings and recycling of materials using modern technologies. My goal is to make the technologies available for all sections of the society.

Sustainability is a paramount concern in my research pursuits. I acknowledge the substantial contribution of the built environment to global energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. My research focuses on harmonizing human-centric environmental control and enhanced Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) with sustainable building practices, a critical facet of my work.
Through collaboration across diverse disciplines, the utilization of state-of-the-art technology, and a steadfast dedication to sustainability, I aspire to push the boundaries of what is attainable in the realms of indoor environmental quality and sustainable living.
I am genuinely enthused about the potential of this research field to bring about substantial positive change in how we plan, operate, and experience cost-effective, resilient housing, ultimately fostering healthier, happier, and more sustainable living for all.
Haoyue Dai
Haoyue is an MBS student from Harbin in northeast China. She got her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Nottingham Ningbo China and majored in Architectural Built Environment. Now she majored in Master of Building Science at the University of Southern California. Improving indoor comfort with sustainability strategies is one of the motivations for her to study in this field. Currently, Haoyue is doing research with Professor Joon-Ho about the correlation between human Physiological Responses and Indoor Environmental Quality. She hopes in the future her research can make contributions to building indoor comfort in both commercial and residential buildings.
