RESEARCH SUMMARY
In an era where Big Data is transforming information sciences, data analytics contribute to major innovation by providing exciting opportunities for substantial breakthroughs and more solid decisions in the construction industry through its various phases. Given the nature of human experience-oriented construction and civil engineering industry, useful data come from everywhere – from projects to the buildings themselves. Dr. Jeehee Lee, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering and Construction at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, focuses on applying data-driven machine learning models to relevant problems including data structures and human factors in the field of construction and building science. Her overarching research goal is to develop ‘data-centric built environment’ as a driving force of change when connecting the construction project to every process, phase and stakeholders. More specifically, her methodological interests are: 1) Natural Language Processing (NLP) and unstructured text data analytics in a Big Data environment, and 2) Human-Building Interaction (HBI) through human physiological sensing data analytics.
