James B. Dewey, PhD
I received a PhD in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Northwestern University, where I worked with Dr. Sumitrajit Dhar on characterizing otoacoustic emissions in humans. I have since received postdoctoral training with Dr. John Oghalai in the use of optical methods to study intracochlear vibrations in animal models, first at Stanford University and then at the University of Southern California, where I am now an assistant professor. My research is inspired by long-held fascinations with sound and perception, as well as a brief stint as a teacher’s aid at the Hearing and Speech Center of Northern California, where I worked with hearing and speech impaired children. When not in the lab, you may find me exploring the deserts of Southern California.
