This group provides parents and guardians of all current University of Southern California students a private forum to support and enhance your journey as a Trojan parent, and to ensure your student’s journey from undergraduate to USC alumnus. Membership requests for the group require that individuals answer a set of questions. If a prospective member does not answer the questions provided, they will not be added to the group.

We encourage new members to ask questions, and share advice, recommendations, and tips about the student, parent and family experience. We also ask current members to guide parents who are new to the Trojan Family.

All members must abide by all our community guidelines so everyone can participate in civil and productive conversations. We welcome the expertise of seasoned parents and this group is intended for members who are parents of current USC students to ensure the discussion remains focused on the most up-to-date information.

If you require customer service, please email parentsoftroy@usc.edu.

Please note the university has a website full of essential resources and answers to common questions at families.usc.edu.

GROUP RULES

  1. Be Kind and Courteous
We’re all in this together to create a welcoming environment. Let’s treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates and disagreements are constructive, but personal attacks and trolling is not tolerated. Please keep discussions civil.
  2. No Hate Speech or Bullying
Make sure everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind isn’t allowed, and hateful or threatening speech or degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, disability, gender, identity, or political beliefs will not be tolerated. We encourage discussion on hot button topics, including those you are passionate about, but we reserve the right to redirect or remove conversations that may alienate other members, leading to a toxic environment.
  3. No Promotions or Spam
Please don’t spam the community. Self-promotion, spam, promotional items/sales and irrelevant links aren’t allowed. This is a group of your fellow parents. Unless another member asks for it, refrain from promoting services or products. This goes for unsolicited private messaging and posts about available housing as well. Please use on of the Facebook groups dedicated to housing opportunities to promote your available rooms and subleases. We will remove these posts.
  4. Respect Everyone’s Privacy
Being part of this group requires mutual trust. Authentic, expressive discussions make groups great, but may also be sensitive and private. What’s shared in the group should stay in the group.
  5. No Unwanted Messaging or Harassment
Do not attempt to directly contact another group member without invitation or first asking their permission to message them via a public comment in the group.
  6. Respect Your Student’s Privacy
While we want to be able to share what our students are doing, please do not share any identifying personal information about your student. Their privacy should be at the forefront of your mind during any post or comment. Please be mindful of sharing their experience online without their consent as it may have repercussions for them on campus.
  7. Keep Discussion Relevant to USC
Please keep conversation focused on USC news and information. When joining a conversation, stay on topic. Again, we reserve the right to redirect or remove posts that are off topic.
  8. Parents of USC Graduates
We encourage parents and family of recent graduates and alumni to kindly remove themselves from the group and “graduate” to make sure that current family members are receiving the most up-to-date and relevant information.

WHO ARE THE GROUP MODERATORS?

The primary moderator for the group is “Parents of Troy.”

  • The moderators of this community reserve the right to grant or refuse membership to this community.
  • USC’s parent and family communication team and USC’s social media team moderate the group. Our objective is to handle any necessary group moderation. This primarily includes new member approvals, answering general inquiries about the university previously unaddressed, etc. during regular university business hours.
  • Moderators will step in to assist in finding appropriate university resources if a question has not already been addressed and can only answer in generic terms – we cannot respond to queries that require knowledge of personal information (such as student registration status, financial aid status, etc.). For specific questions about your student, email parentsoftroy@usc.edu and we can connect you with the appropriate resource.
