2d->3d->2d Le Corbusier

taking in 8-10 le corbusiers in ten-days time is like going on an aesthetic bender of 3-dimensional space come 2-d. no respect for the idiom easy-does-it, and why should we? the more deep the dive, the more clarity gained through its saturation, or the more drowning the experience. the thirteen of us were fine to drown amongst those pieces of corbu scattered about paris like tschumi folies. there is something in corb’s ability to create voluminous spaces that feel absolutely experiential and alive in the 3d but which translate uniquely into the 2d, the forms compressing onto one another to create wholey unique lines and shape like a cubist’s scene. not surprising corbu’s role as a painter and artist once this view is recognized through his architecture. below is an attempt at capturing some of what this spatial translation looks like.
