UPDATES FROM OVERSEAS – WELCOME

The USC School of Architecture (SoA) has a rich tradition of travel opportunities for students. Learning from other cultures is essential to educating architects and creating an awareness of their responsibilities as global citizens. The Global Studies program offers students a wide range of opportunities to experience the world through the lens of architecture, landscape, and urbanism.

Beginning in the early 90’s with the Anthony A. Marnell Italian Architecture Studies Program, the School’s offerings have expanded to include additional study opportunities in Europe, Asia and Latin America. Any given semester finds USC Architecture students immersed in a foreign culture learning alongside USC SoA faculty and local experts.

In addition to curricular travel, the School offers a number of Traveling Fellowships. Funded by the generous support of donors, individual students propose self-directed research projects involving travel to destinations of their own choosing. Fellowships are awarded based on the strength and feasibility of the research proposal.

Updates From Overseas offers visitors a “real time” glimpse into the activities of USC Architecture students engaged in travel around the globe. Posts will include students in our various semester long programs; students on travel fellowships; international topic studios; and field studies.

We look forward to sharing the exciting activities of our students as they expand their horizons during their time abroad and to your feedback.
