Clinical Advisor
Gerald M. Haase, MD, is Clinical Professor of Surgery, University of Colorado, School of Medicine and principal of Rocky Mountain Medical Research, LLC. He co-founded Premier Micronutrient Corporation, a nutritional science research and development entity that collaborated with the U.S. Congress and Department of Defense (DoD) after the “9/11” terrorist attack and was acquired by a public company for which he became Chief Medical Officer. He is a member of the DoD Committee on Pharmacologic Interventions for Hearing Loss. He was also the co-founder of CURE, a non-profit foundation assisting China in management of cancer in children. He has been medical/scientific advisor to several domestic and international companies, most recently, Healthy Extracts, Inc., a U.S, public company.
Dr. Haase has been actively involved in medical research and clinical trials for 40 years including novel strategies for antioxidant micronutrient protective therapy in active military, combat veteran and civilian populations as well as against adverse clinical conditions and hazardous exposures. He also developed designs of central venous access devices, applications for intra-operative radiation therapy in pediatric solid tumors and technical surgical innovations in adult and childhood cancer. In addition, he has formulated, evaluated and patented unique phytonutrient complexes to address cardiometabolic health, immune system status, physical performance/recovery and neurocognitive function including migraine headaches.
Dr. Haase received his undergraduate degree from the Johns Hopkins University and M.D. degree from Tufts University School of Medicine with graduate honors in research. His surgical training was at the University of Colorado, Health Sciences Center and he specialized in pediatric surgery and oncology at Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Boston, and Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. He was Vice Chairman of the Children’s Oncology Group and member of the Wilms Tumor Study Group, both under the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
Dr. Haase served as chairman of the Board of Scientific Counselors of Cancer Treatment Research Foundation and as a senior member of the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. He was appointed to the Board of Trustees of the National Childhood Cancer Foundation and served on its Medical and Scientific Advisory Board. He has published/ presented more than 250 scientific papers, is the inventor/co-inventor of multiple issued U.S. patents for micronutrient and phytonutrient therapy and been the recipient of clinical research grants and contracts at a several million-dollar cumulative level.
He has been an editorial reviewer for numerous publications including Journal of Pediatric Surgery, Cancer, and American Journal of Diseases of Children and was a member of the editorial board of Annals of Surgical Oncology. Dr. Haase participated with the International Office of the NCI and was an examiner in pediatric surgery for the American Board of Surgery. He is a member of more than 25 professional societies including the American Association for Cancer Research, International College of Surgeons, American Academy of Pediatrics, New York Academy of Sciences, American College of Physician Executives, and is a charter member of the International Society of Pediatric Surgical Oncology. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Pacific Association of Pediatric Surgeons.
