Hanna Kim

Artist, Soros Equality Fellow and non-resident fellow of Hutchins Center for African and African American Research

Hanna Kim is an artist, designer, and researcher who is committed to working on issues of social justice and human rights. Her multidisciplinary work focuses on the intersection of design, policy, and activism. With a background in fine arts and graphic design, she uses visual storytelling to explain complex concepts and shine a light on marginalized narratives. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art and a Master in Design Studies from the Harvard Graduate School of Design in the Art, Design, and the Public Domain program. She is currently Open Society Foundations’ Soros Equality Fellow, a nonresident fellow at Harvard University’s Hutchins Center for African and African American Research, and has been a fellow at IDEO CoLab in Cambridge, MA and intern at Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery, AL. Her work has been featured in Monument Lab, Harvard Graduate School of Design, National Trust for Historic Preservation Leadership Forum, Houston Chronicle, and European Network on Statelessness; she has spoken at UPenn, Rice University, University of Texas at Austin, Columbia University, and Graphic Justice Research Alliance.
