Participating in the Inauguration Processional
The University is proud to invite delegates from across the globe to march in the official processional at the inauguration of President Carol L. Folt. Delegates include all USC faculty and retired faculty, along with select students, staff, parents, and alumni representing groups across the University, as well as local community representatives, and distinguished representatives from various colleges, universities, and learned societies.
Please note that this page only contains information for those who will be marching in the official processional. If you will be attending the ceremony as a spectator, please click here.
Assembly
All delegates will assemble on campus between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on the morning of Friday, September 20. At 9:15 a.m. non-marching guests should move to seating in Alumni Park, and delegates will be lined up in preparation for the inauguration processional, which begins promptly at 10:00 a.m.
We recommend you secure your belongings in your vehicle before arriving at your assembly point.
Processional
The inauguration processional will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. and will last about 25 minutes. All delegates will march from the front steps of Bovard Auditorium into Alumni Park. Each group of delegates will have at least one marshal who will lead you to the appropriate seating area.
Inauguration Ceremony
The inauguration ceremony will begin immediately following the processional. It is at this ceremony that Dr. Carol L. Folt will be formally installed as the twelfth president of the university.
Luncheon
Following the ceremony, all guests are invited to attend a celebratory luncheon held in McCarthy Quad. There are no reservations necessary for this lunch – all are welcome.
Parking
Parking will be complimentary for inauguration events on Friday, September 20. Reserved parking will be available in the Downey Way Parking Structure for all delegates marching in the inauguration processional. Enter campus via the Downey Way Entrance at 36th Street and Vermont Avenue. Due to the large crowd expected, please allow ample time for entry into campus and walking to your designated line up location.
