Faculty Participating in the Inauguration Processional
Assembly
Faculty Assemble in Cromwell Field (at the Katherine B. Loker Track Stadium). Current and retired faculty will march in the processional behind the banner for their academic unit. At the perimeter of the field will be cardinal and gold banners with the names of the various academic units. When you are instructed, please gather around your school’s banner.
You should plan on arriving to Cromwell Field no later than 8:30 a.m.
Note, classes will not be canceled on Friday morning, but professors with classes scheduled are encouraged to send their students to the ceremony.
Processional
The inauguration processional will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. and will last about 25 minutes. All delegates will march from the front steps of Bovard Auditorium into Alumni Park. Each group of delegates will be led by at least one marshal to the appropriate seating area.
Attire
You will march in the regalia representing the highest academic degree you have earned; if you do not own your own regalia, the university will provide it for all those who place their order online by Friday, August 30. Faculty who did not order regalia by the deadline may still be able to march in the procession. A limited supply of extra USC specific regalia will be available the morning of September 20.
Faculty regalia ordered online will be available for pickup at the University Bookstore patio, from Wednesday, September 18 through Thursday, September 19 from 9:00 a.m-4:00 p.m. You must bring your regalia with you on Friday morning. If you are unable to pick up your rented regalia in advance, please arrive to Cromwell Field by 7:45 a.m. in order to secure your rental.
Luncheon
Following the ceremony, all guests are invited to attend a celebratory luncheon held in McCarthy Quad. There are no reservations necessary for this lunch – all are welcome.
Parking
Parking will be complimentary for inauguration events on Friday, September 20. Faculty are encouraged to park in their regular daily locations. If needed, reserved parking is available in the Downey Way Parking Structure for all delegates marching in the inauguration processional. Enter campus via the Downey Way Entrance at 36th Street and Vermont Avenue. Due to the large crowd expected, please allow ample time for entry into campus and walking to your designated line up location.
