About

Mehdi Kamal is a Research Scientist at the Institute for Future of Computing in the Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Southern California. Before joining USC, he was an Associate Professor at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Tehran.

He received the B.Sc. degree from the Iran University of Science and Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 2005, the M.Sc. degree from the Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, in 2007, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Tehran, Tehran, in 2013, all in computer engineering.

His current research interests include:

    • (Ultra)-low-power/energy hardware design
    • (Analog/Mixed-signal) ML hardware accelerators
    • Approximate computing
    • Secure computing platforms
    • Reliability in nanoscale design
    • Electronic design automation
