Daniel Awokuse, BS

Research Statement:

Tendinopathy is a painful disease affecting the musculotendinous unit. I am interested in biomechanical adaptations in structure and function as a result of rotator cuff tendinopathy.  My current research characterizes the mechanisms related to this disease; specifically by examining changes in tendon morphology during its development and the impact of tendinopathy on tendon mechanical properties and the musculotendinous unit. This work will improve the ability to detect and monitor changes over time in rotator cuff tendinopathy, and define biomechanical targets for treatment.
