To develop better treatments for human diseases, we need better models of human tissues.

The Laboratory for Living Systems Engineering is an interdisciplinary research group led by Prof. Megan L. McCain at the University of Southern California. We develop new technologies to engineer healthy and diseased human tissues “on a chip” to uncover mechanisms of human development and disease at the multi-cellular scale. We specialize in heart and other types of muscle.

We are members of the Alfred E. Mann Department of Biomedical Engineering in the USC Viterbi School of Engineering and the Department of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine at USC.
