ZAP! is a 2-session workshop based on the successful National Science Foundation Innovation Corps (I-Corps) methods of accelerating the translation of university research to the marketplace. Teams that complete ZAP! are invited to IN-LA’s Technology Scouting Workshop, an opportunity to pitch to investors, and may move forward in the IN-LA process toward eligibility for a $50,000 NSF I-Corps grant. Over 400 teams have completed ZAP! through the Innovation Node LA. Over 35 teams have been awarded a $50,000 grant. Farzin Samadani, the instructor, taught the teams to use the “Lean Startup” methodology. 6 teams joined us for Zap!, with 3 teams successfully completing the workshops.
