A couple of weeks ago, my roommates and I discovered that our ice machine was broken. However, broken was not exactly the word that would best describe the situation. The ice maker pictured below lies in our freezer, and was successfully producing ice. Unfortunately, it was working too well, and did not care to stop despite many attempts to turn it off. Our freezer soon filled with ice which lead us to empty out the ice every other day or so. When we were unable to remove the ice before it filled, the ice would spill into the back/bottom of the freezer behind the drawer blocking the drawer/door to slide back into place. Pictured below is a small incident. On other occasions, my roommates and I have taken multiple handfuls of ice that escaped. We’ve attempted to call our maintenance people a number of times with no response. This is a very hardworking and good ice maker, it just doesn’t know when to quit.
