Through our journalling project last week, I realized the things that make me angriest are actually frustrating and irritating. Through the process of working on puzzles for my GX project, I came up with the evil idea of creating a puzzle that cannot be solved.
I started with a puzzle that I had 3D printed where the objective is to fit four pieces into a dish. It took most of my friends 30 minutes to solve this puzzle, which is already an irritating amount of time.
I then edited the file to make the pieces slightly different, so they wouldn’t even give the player the satisfaction of fitting together seamlessly. I then 3D printed a mould in PLA for both the pieces and the dish.
I then poured the rockite into the moulds, let them set, and used a heat gun to melt the PLA. Shoutout to Jennifer for the help! A couple pieces cracked but I cemented them back together.
And the last step was sanding! I found this a bit difficult cause my cement was falling apart a bit.
Here’s the completed puzzle! And the very annoying misfit pieces!
