For my project I decided to make a bookmark that also could serve as a small night light. One of my goals for the new year is to read more. However, I am dyslexic and as a dyslexic I really do not enjoy reading as I really do not understand what I am reading. In addition, reading is incredibly challenging and exhausting for me. Because reading is not an enjoyable experience I thought that creating an LED light book park would spark a little joy in the process of my reading experience. The LED lights are activated when the book is shut. The book is shut when you go to get the book to open and then after reading you shut the book. The LED light sparks joy at both the end and beginning of the process. I chose this add a origami feature for the bookmark to look like a rose to remind me that even though I struggle with reading to “stop and smell the roses” of reading and to have a positive attitude looking at this as an opportunity.
I have never worked with circuit tape before so for me this was a great opportunity to learn. However, I do hope to redo this project at the end and make something more complex now that I have learned how the circuit works.
