My project for this topic went through several variations.
At first I wanted to create something big and complicated with lots of moving parts. It was going to mimic a large dragon trapped in a box. However, then I thought it would be more interesting to try to mimic this using the most simple way possible, using “booby trap” mechanisms.
For example – the classic trap of someone trying to grab something, which triggers a mechanism, and causes danger to the person in question. For me, I didn’t actually want to cause any harm, but imply that harm was going to occur.
My idea was that the user would put their hands into the box, go straight in, find a small squishy animal, grab it, then get “licked.”
So, I made a scary looking box, with a hole for someone’s hand to go through that looked like something had chewed through it.
Creating this box made me realize that it gave off Halloween vibes, which makes me think of those halloween candy distributers where if you try to grab candy, something pops out of the box. Therefore, instead of a small animal, I replaced it with a shiny piece of candy to grab that triggers the “tongue.”
