Getting the egg to float is a balancing act. If you put it too high, it’ll snap to the top of the stand, and if it’s too low, it’ll fall down. The user is meant to balance the egg without breaking it, a fairly difficult task. Though this egg is 3D printed for the sake of prototyping and saving myself from having to hollow out enough eggs for the class to try, ideally it would be a real egg with a magnet inside. This balancing act creates a lot of anticipation and nerves for completing it without destroying the egg. When the egg finally floats, it is pretty unnerving to see something hanging without an attachment.
