Love is a trap.
Love tends to bring a positive connotation but we should not neglect the fact that love can sometimes be bad.
Love traps are relationships that seem like a good idea, but they always end up harming your emotional well-being.
When people are dating, a love trap can hide in the form of a career-compatible relationship, an amazing first date, or even an exciting and mysterious stranger. People fall for love traps because they seem too good to be true. The worst part is that people won’t know that they are in one until it’s too late.
Love traps not only happen in relationships but also in the family. Parents use love as an excuse to pressure their kids to do things that they think are good for them. Yet, while these thoughts are coming from a loving standpoint but it is not beneficial for both sides.
Inspired by this, I created a cage full of hearts to represent that love is a trap. This cage is not fancy and beautiful, instead, it is loose and whimsy because love inside this cage can fly away anytime. The blue fillings inside the hearts are messages, thoughts, or actions that are wrapped with love but in actuality, they are traps.
This piece is made by weaving a copper wire cage and creating felt hearts.
