Everything Everywhere Rock

After watching the movie “Everything Everywhere All At Once”, I was very impressed by how it was able to capture the main message in an indie, abstract way. Moreover, it really surprised me with unexpected plot twists, elements, stories, and visuals throughout the film. One of my favorite scenes was the one where after very loud, sensory overload scenes, suddenly Joy and Evelyn turned into two rocks by the mountain, with googly eyes on them and just chatting with typed out words.

So with this project, I brainstormed ways to surprise the user with unexpected interactions in a common daily object. First, I sewed the outer “rock” skin with a pocket sleeve in the middle so I could hide “wings” in it. Then, I stuffed it with cotton. Then, I sewed the wings and tied them with an elastic band through the middle sleeve. Then, I inserted a water bag, cuz that’s what you put into a plushy, right? I sealed all the sides and yay! My everything everywhere rock is complete.

First, the rock plushy sits calmy on the couch.

Then, as you lean on them, the wings come out, and you’re like… it’s a flying rock?

So cute! And I can even put my hands in them to warm up my hands.

Oh wait… I can put water in this and use it as a water bottle?
