Developing Solutions Through Research
Most “healthcare for the homeless” research has centered on the sheltered population, with very little investigation into the unique healthcare needs and challenges of the unsheltered population. With access to a large patient pool and excellent research resources, USC is uniquely positioned to lead in this area and improve the world’s understanding of this population.
Through a robust research effort, we aim to better understand the challenges facing the unsheltered homeless population, develop more effective means to provide care to this community, and uncover the root causes of homelessness. Results from our research will inform future policy and programming to help eradicate homelessness, improve health in all communities, and optimize each individual’s potential.
