The Department of Physics at Southern Illinois University (SIU) Carbondale, IL (http://physics.siu.edu/) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the field of Quantum Computation and Quantum Information Science. This a theory position. The department of Physics at SIU offers BS and MS in Physics and a Ph. D. in Applied Physics. The selected candidate is expected to:  establish a unique, externally funded research program with key focus of engaging undergraduate and graduate students in cutting edge research and scholarly activities; be a dedicated educator with strong commitment to exceptional teaching; contribute positively to the service missions of the department, the college, and the university. Qualifications: PhD at time of application in Physics/Applied Physics or related field (one or more years of post-doctoral experience is a plus factor), with focus inquantum computing and/or quantum information. Applicants must show strong evidence of scholarly activities through substantial publications in high impact journals, andmust show interest and potential to teach graduate and undergraduate classes across the curriculum.  Preference will be given to candidates with a concentration in quantum error prevention, simulating quantum systems with quantum systems and/or a closely related field.  The department values interdisciplinary research and as such it is a plus factor for candidates to show interest and promise for building and sustaining long term research collaboration across several disciplines.
