Multiple postdoctoral positions are available at the Institute of Fundamental and Frontier Science (IFFS), University of Electronic Science and Technology China (UESTC) located in Chengdu, China. UESTC is one of the top research universities in China, while Chengdu is a thriving city with modern amenities served by a highly connected metro system, high speed rail and two airports.
The positions are generally for two years, but can be renewed for up to six years depending on research performance. Candidates who are broadly interested in the area of quantum information science are encouraged to apply. Some suggested research topics may include: (i) NISQ algorithms, (ii) Quantum metrology, (iv) Nonclassical quantum resource theories, and (v) Quantum information of complex many-body systems. This list is not intended to be exhaustive and candidates with other research interests are also welcome. Hired postdoctoral researchers are highly encouraged to form their own research directions and collaborate with both local and international researchers.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Quantum Physics or a related field.
- Ability to speak and write English is necessary for this role.
- Applicants have to be less than 35 years old.
We offer:
- A two year contract with a one year probationary period, which is renewable up to a maximum of six years.
- Basic salary starts from 150,000 to 200,000 yuan per annum. Candidates with strong CVs can also apply for additional grants (such as national grants or postdoctoral talent program). Including grants and performance incentives, the maximum salary range can be 400,000-450,000 yuan per annum for strong candidates.
- Additional performance incentives up to a maximum of 100,000 yuan per year, depending on publications in any given year.
- Free/subsidized housing near campus.
- 10,000 yuan per annum travel subsidy which can be used to travel back to your home country (for non-chinese citizens).
