Assistant Professor (tenure track) in Experimental Quantum Information Science and Technology, Stony Brook University, New York

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Stony Brook University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty position in experimental physics within the area of Quantum Information Science and Technology (QIST).

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Physics or a closely related field, have postdoctoral experience, and a demonstrated record of research leadership in a QIST-relevant experimental physics research area. Faculty are expected to engage in independently funded research characterized by creativity and vision, with commitment to the teaching missions of the Department of Physics and Astronomy, including our new Master of Science program in QIST. Existing relevant research efforts in the Department include ultracold atoms and quantum gases, ultrafast dynamics of molecules and materials, photonic quantum devices, quantum optics, quantum communication and entanglement distribution, and quantum materials. The successful applicant will complement and expand on our efforts in these areas. We are particularly interested in applicants with expertise in experimental quantum networking using ion systems or photonic nano-systems, quantum cryptography, and/or long distance entanglement distribution.

As of this writing, the university is finalizing a plan for a major investment in the QIST area, which would include considerable resources to support QIST-relevant research across the University and specifically within the Department of Physics and Astronomy.

The application deadline is October 24, 2022. For further details and how to apply, please visit https://apply.interfolio.com/112595.
