The University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering is seeking to appoint a Lab Director, Undergraduate Quantum Education Laboratory.

We are seeking an excellent candidate for a permanent staff position in the field of quantum information science and technology. Existing activity in this area ranges from pure theory to experimental quantum technologies within the Quantum Engineering Technology Labs, Photonics & Quantum and Quantum Information Theory research groups. Furthermore, this world-leading research centre has access to state-of-the-art facilities for quantum research, world-class researchers as collaborators and opportunity to interact with industry through the Chicago Quantum Exchange Center (CQE) and Argonne National Laboratory providing a vibrant and active research environment.

The post-holder will be responsible for developing and overseeing the new undergraduate quantum lab course and provides innovative leadership and effective administrative direction that promotes undergraduate students’ academic success and supports the overall student experience. The Director, working in conjunction with PME Faculty, will design and implement advanced teaching experiments in a variety of quantum platforms, with significant opportunities for customization based on the guidance of the Lab Director and Faculty including the rare opportunity to design a new, innovative educational program from the group up and combine a background in advanced experimental techniques with a passion for quantum education.
