The Far West RTTC MOB/WOB Project
The project developed into a database of all the Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.
Some other features in our database included a geolocation map using ESRI software of the SMEs and be able to use other geo data to associate with those SMEs.
NASA MOB/WOB initiative
The MOB/WOB SME EZ/EC project was created to assist minority-owned businesses (MOB) and women-owned businesses (WOB), within the Federal Laboratory Consortium (FLC) Far West Region, in the creation of High Performance Information Systems (HPIS). Our approach is to use SME’s as partners in addressing digital divide issues in the region.
The goal of this work included:
-
- Identifying the Federal Empowerment Zones (EZ) / Enterprise Communities (EC) and State Enterprise Zones in the Eight states that are defined as the Far West region.
- Identifying the locations of SMEs within these 8 western states.
- Determine SMEs with minority or women owned businesses.
- Targeting MOB/WOB businesses and assist in incorporating HPIS into their future operations.
