Teaching
CHE 305 – Numerical and Statistical Analysis for Chemical Engineers
(Fall 2022, Fall 2023)
Introduction to computer programming, numerical algorithms, computational tools, and principles of probability and statistics. Students will learn to apply these concepts towards solving chemical engineering problems.
CHE 447 – Heat and Mass Transfer in Chemical Engineering Processes
(Spring 2022, Spring 2023)
Molecular and continuum approaches to diffusion and convection in fluids; differential and macroscopic equations of mass and heat transfer for different geometries in various applications; constructing mathematical models and applying them to chemical engineering designs.
Outreach
As a black engineer and first-generation university graduate, Prof. Zeno truly understands the significance of representation in science and engineering. Therefore, our group is passionate about the need for practices that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. Professor Zeno has participated in scientific outreach and communication for over 10 years, which started during his graduate studies at UC Davis.
Currently, the Zeno lab is participating in an NSF-funded outreach program called Transitions and Research At the INterfaceS (TRAINS). Through this 5-year program, the Zeno lab will started mentoring students from Rio Hondo College in Summer 2022. The goal of this program is to strengthen the local STEM pipeline with Hispanic-serving institutions in the greater Los Angeles area.
