AAPP USC

Our Mission

To expose students to the field of psychiatric and neurologic pharmacy, raise awareness of mental health issues, and prepare our students to serve those suffering from central nervous system disorders.

About Our Organization

AAPP USC is a student chapter of the national professional society the American Association of Psychiatric Pharmacists (AAPP) which was founded on March 24, 1998. The vision of AAPP is to have a neuropsychiatric pharmacist accountable for optimal medication therapy for every individual living with a psychiatric or neurologic disorder.

We at AAPP USC envision a world where all individuals living with mental illness, including those with substance use or neurologic disorders, receive safe, appropriate, and effective treatment. We focus on mental health outreach to the local community, improve understanding and treatment of mental illness, and expose pharmacy students to real-life applicable skills training. We also offer training in the use of Narcan and drug testing supplies as part of our harm reduction program (NaloxoneSC) to fight opioid overdose.
