Multiplane (3D) Image Formation How can an optical system display multiple planes of information or images, at different distances in depth? While in principle a single computer-generated hologram can do this, in reality information limits (space bandwidth product) make this approach not practical, especially for real-time varying displays. In this project, we have considered the use of multiple planes of computer-generated holograms, or diffractive optical elements, to realize this kind of image formation. |

Display Applications of Multiplane Image Formation How can multiplane image formation systems be applied to 3D displays? In this project we investigate the applicability to vehicular head-up displays and glasses-mounted displays. |
