Our Goal
Our multi-institutional collaborative team, supported by the National Institutes of Health BRAIN Initiative (Award U01NS126046), seeks to enable the broad adoption of flexible polymer microelectrode arrays (pMEA) as neural interfaces by the neuroscience user community. This project, led by the Biomedical Microsystems Laboratory and the Neural Modeling and Interface Laboratory will develop:
- A library of pMEA designs that can be used across species from mouse to nonhuman primate
- Specialized methods to enable accurate pMEA implantation to brain targets
- In vivo data demonstrating pMEA performance against traditional rigid arrays
We aim to meet the large-scale, high-density goals of the BRAIN Initiative and establish a dissemination path to make our technologies widely available to the neuroscience and neuroengineering community.
