HPV, or human papillomavirus, is a common virus that can cause cancers later in life. HPV is spread through intimate skin-to-skin contact. You can get HPV by having vaginal, anal, or oral sex with someone who has the virus, even if they don’t have signs or symptoms.
The vaccine for HPV is recommended by the CDC for all children ages 11-12. Early protection works best. That’s why HPV vaccine is recommended earlier rather than later.
If you were not vaccinated for HPV in childhood, you are recommended to receive vaccination up through age 45.
Vaccination is available to students through the Immunizations Department. Make your appointment through MySHR.
