Healthy sexuality is a natural part of adulthood.
The college years are a time when explorations of sexuality, relationships, and sexual identity commonly occur. For USC students who are embarking into adult, consensual relationships, and for those who are developing their knowledge about their bodies and their health, the provider team at Student Health is here to provide medical care, reproductive health care, counseling support, health screenings, and prevention services.
Taking care of your sexual health is important because you are important.
Human sexuality and sexual curiosity is normal, healthy, and can be a fulfilling expression between people or a way of solo self-care. Lots of consensual sex, no sex at all, and everything in between are perfectly normal for consenting adults, and may change at different times in our adult lives.
-
- Regular screenings may be recommended (Pap smears are recommended at age 21-65 for cervical cancer; clinical breast exams may be recommended beginning in your 20s depending on a family history of breast cancer.)
- Contraceptive options are available and covered through the USC Student Health Insurance Plan.
- Condoms, dental dams, PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis, a pill regimen that can prevent HIV infection) and regular STI testing (for sexually transmitted infections) can protect you and your partner, and reduce the prevalence of STIs overall.
