SUZANNE DWORAK-PECK SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK STUDENT GROUPS
USC School of Social Work Student Caucuses, Interest Groups, and Affinity Groups
Difference between Caucus and Affinity Groups
Caucuses are “open” groups that promote awareness of specific constituencies and special interests, service to the community and leadership development through professional, educational, social and community events.
Affinity groups can be “open” or “closed” (open to anyone interested in providing support or allyship, or closed to only members of a specific community) groups meant for self-identified members of specific communities to gather together to share experiences candidly without judgement and provide a safe, positive, and affirming environment for community members.
