This position is part of a campus-wide cluster hiring initiative to expand and broaden expertise in quantum science and engineering at UW-Madison. As part of the initiative there are new position vacancies in the Departments of Physics (PVL 100655), one being recruited in Electrical & Computer Engineering and one recently filled in Materials Science & Engineering. It is anticipated that the successful candidate in physics will develop strong collaborations with the existing quantum research at UW Madison, as well as with other hires under this cluster program, and with external research centers. Further information regarding this initiative can be found at: https://facstaff.provost.wisc.edu/cluster-hiring-initiative/.
The department of Physics has strong experimental and theoretical programs in qubit devices based on neutral atoms, quantum dots, and superconductors, as well as related areas of quantum materials, quantum optics, quantum sensors, and quantum information theory. We are interested in candidates who will strengthen any of the above areas or establish related research groups.
UW-Madison is seeking a diverse set of faculty candidates who will deepen our campus’ interdisciplinary research strength in key areas of current and future research promise, as well as faculty candidates who will approach their work in a manner that advances our commitment to research excellence.
The deadline for ensuring full consideration is December 1, 2019, however the position will remain open and applications may be considered until the position is filled.
