The School of Physics and School of Computer Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Engineering Maths (SCEEM) have an international reputation for excellence in research and teaching. Together, the Schools are seeking an excellent candidate for a permanent academic position in the field of quantum information science and technology. Existing activity in this area ranges from pure theory to experimental quantum technologies within the Quantum Engineering Technology Labs, Photonics & Quantum and Quantum Information Theory research groups. Furthermore, this world-leading research centre has access to state-of-the-art facilities for quantum research, world-class researchers as collaborators and opportunity to interact with industry through the Quantum Technology Innovation Centre (QTIC) and Enterprise Centre(QTEC) providing a vibrant and active research environment.
In addition to developing a high-profile research programme, the successful candidate will be the Director of the Quantum Engineering Centre for Doctoral Training (QE-CDT). This involves steering the QE-CDT management team with responsibilities to deliver the CDT training programme and ensure a high-quality postgraduate student experience, taking a leadership role in supporting practically the Centre’s teaching, supervision and engagement with various internal and external partners.
