On behalf of the workshop committee, I am so pleased to conduct a National Workshop on Architectural Faculty in Environmental Sustainability Research (WAFES) to engage Architectural researchers who are interested in environmental sustainability research related to the built environment. As the first funded Workshop sponsored by the National Science Foundation for Architectural Faculty in the U.S., this program is a very meaningful effort to boost a research culture in the Architecture area. I hope this workshop can contribute to developing a research platform to enhance faculty and affiliated students’ research career, focusing on Architecture as an acritical research hub, and developing pathways for Architectural scholars to engage in environmental sustainability research.

On behalf of ARCC, I am delighted to welcome you to the National Workshop on Architectural Faculty in Environmental Sustainability Research (WAFES), the first workshop sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to be developed specifically for Architectural Faculty. We in ARCC are very proud of our involvement in this important event, which represents an example of our continued efforts to expand research culture and supporting infrastructure in schools of architecture. I would like to thank Professor Joon-Ho Choi, the workshop chair and ARCC board member, for all his efforts in developing the workshop, and I hope you all have excellent experience within it.
