Welcome to the Hodge Materials Research Group

Our research focus is on the synthesis of engineered microstructures with nanoscale precision, which allows for tailored properties and/or functionality. We take a high-throughput and combinatorial approach towards experimentation, synthesis, and characterization to generate a fundamental understanding of processes and mechanisms within the synthesis-composition-microstructure space. Our group uses a variety of coating techniques such as sputtering and electrodeposition to design compositionally graded samples to generate data for materials driven machine learning and to produce new nano-structured, micro-structured, and amorphous materials for advanced applications.
