Presenter’s Guide

Poster Presentation specifications: 

  1. All posters for all sessions MUST be 3 feet tall x 4 feet wide and printed on sturdy paper (no lamination and no cloth).
  2. All posters will be mounted on 3 feet tall x 4 feet wide free-standing display boards. Boards and clips to attach your poster to the display board will be provided by the conference. The board has three sections: left panel (1 foot wide), middle panel (2 feet wide) and a right panel (1 foot wide). You will want to set up your poster so that the “folds” will not impair viewing your content. There will be room in front of the poster board for any handouts you wish to provide.

Oral Presentation specifications (Innovations and Cool Ideas)

  1. Each 90-minute oral presentation session includes five individual presentations. Each session will either have a topical focus or a focus based on the level or type of learner. Each presentation will have approximately 12 minutes to describe the innovation (Estimated time use: 4 minutes to describe the need/rationale for the innovation, 4 minutes to explain the teaching methods and evaluation related to the innovation, and 4 minutes to discuss any results to date and/or future plans).
  2. You will need to bring your presentation on a USB drive to upload into the computer in the room. Provided also in the room will be the projector, a laser pointer and a PowerPoint slide changer.

Exemplar Curriculum specifications

  1. The 90-minute exemplar session will provide approximately 30 minutes for each of three presentations. Please incorporate a short activity or interactive discussion within your time slot.
  2. You will need to bring your presentation on a USB drive to upload into the computer in the room. Provided also in the room will be the projector, a laser pointer and a PowerPoint slide changer.
  3. The session will have a moderator who will monitor time and ensure session flow. It will also have a host to take photos and collect the session evaluation forms. If you need any in-session assistance, just ask the host.

 Interactive Workshop specifications:

  1. Each Conference Workshop is 90-minutes.  The format of the workshop should be interactive and promote active participation from the attendees in order to maximize learning.
  2. You will need to bring your own laptop and if you utilize a Mac, you will need to bring the appropriate connector in order to connect to the projector in the room.
  3. A flip chart will be provided for you.
  4. All rooms are set for at least 40 and you may have up to 60 people depending on your room assignment.
  5. Your workshop session is 90 minutes, however, remember that it can take up to five minutes for people to gather and we will need 5 minutes at the end to conduct the session evaluation, so plan for 80 minutes of interaction. There will be a session host in your session that will be taking attendance, taking pictures and conducting the session evaluation. If you need any in-session assistance, just ask the host.
  6. Handouts and Materials for Activities: You will need to bring any handouts or special materials. However, in each room will be a box with tape, scissors, a pad of paper and 30 marking pens. As at all conferences, the number of session attendees can vary widely. If your handout is important to the activities of the session, plan for the maximum participants.
