Postdoc Fellowship

The USC Provost’s Postdoctoral Scholars Program for Faculty Diversity seeks applicants with the potential to bring to their academic careers the critical perspective that comes from their non-traditional educational background or understanding of the experiences of groups historically underrepresented in higher education.  

Our group, jointly with Ravichandran Group at USC Chemical Engineering and Materials Science Department invites applicants for a joint post-doctoral researcher nomination in the general area of quantum materials synthesis, advanced characterizations, transport, and optical spectroscopy. USC Internal Graduate Student Fellowships

USC Provost’s Fellowship Program:  These fellowship are offered to incoming Ph.D. students who show outstanding promise for careers in academic research and teaching, and who will serve to increase the representation of underrepresented groups in their disciplines. 

USC Donrsife Graduate School Endowed Fellowship for Advanced Ph.D. students: Each year the Graduate School awards competitive fellowships to doctoral students across the University.  The goal of these fellowships is to increase the amount of support that students have for their work toward the Ph.D., especially in fields where research assistantships are generally unavailable and teaching is the primary means of support.

External Graduate Student Fellowships (incomplete list)

*Below applicants must be United States citizens, nationals, or permanent residents of the United States.

NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP)*: as one of the most well known programs, this NSF-sponsored opportunity provides funding for 3 years of financial support over 5 years at $37,000/year.

National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship Program (NDSEG)*: This DOD-sponsored program provides funding for 3 years that pays at $40,800/year. There is no service requirement. This fellowship is especially relevant for physicists and engineers studying systems of interest to DOD, including quantum information science.

Hertz Foundation Fellowship*: Relatively hard to get, this program provided 5 years of support at $34,000/year plus an additional $5,000/year if you have dependents.

**For New American who is 30 or younger, immigrants and children of immigrants to the United States.

P. D. Soros Fellowship**: This is a relatively newer opportunity which supports ”new” Americans, immigrants and refugees to the United States. See eligibility for details. This program provides up to $90,000 over two years.
