We are firmly committed to outreach, mentorship, and professional services that promote the recruitment and retention of underrepresented minorities. We strive to serve as a role model for the next generation of scientists towards a more equal, diverse, and inclusive academic environment.

The conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics (CUWiP), was originally born here at the Physics and Astronomy Department, University of Southern California in 2006. Now with ~15 sites hosting concurrently across the North America, this annual three-day conference aim to help undergraduate women continue in physics by providing them with the opportunity to experience a professional conference, information about graduate school and professions in physics, and access to other women in physics of all ages with whom they can share experiences, advice, and ideas.

CUWiP at Cornell and Ithaca College, Jan 20 – 22, 2023

Application to CUWiP is free.

The site for southern California applicants will attend the 2023 conference (January 20-22) at University of California, Santa Cruz and University of California, Merced. We have internal and external financial support for all applicants (FAQ here).

Kelly together with over 20 students, staff, faculties at Cornell University and Ithaca College are hosting the CUWIP 2023 Cornell & Ithaca College site.

We are also forming Southern California CUWiP consortium for hosting future CUWiP conferences. If you or your institute are interested in helping or hosting future CUWiP conferences in the SoCal area, please contact us at email women@aps.org for more information.
