LJI seeks to partner with non-profits, government agencies and civic organizations, cultural institutions and K-12 schools to collaboratively tackle environmental design and planning challenges and opportunities – through grant-supported projects and research, applied research courses, workshops and service activities.
LJI is committed to reaching students from communities that have been historically under-represented in the architectural professions. Part of this effort is through engagement with K-12 students in understanding their local landscapes and their potentials for improvement through green infrastructure, enhanced mobility, cultural interpretation and policy change. In addition, the initiative is in the process of formalizing financial support as well as academic and professional mentorship for Black, Brown and Indigenous students.
