Please contact us if you are interested in donating to Landscape Justice Initiative. Below you will find LJI’s aspirations and what your donation might help fund.
The longer-term aspirations of the Landscape Justice Initiative are to evolve into a Center for Environmental, Spatial, Climate Justice at USC. A Center has the capacity to hire part and full-time researchers and staff dedicated to both incremental and structural landscape change in Southern and Central California. It also provides more opportunities to secure grant funding.
One aspect of this longer-term goal is the development of two community design outposts servicing South Los Angeles and the lower San Joaquin Valley. These outposts would provide increased opportunities for sustained engagement in these two geographies that have been critically impacted by environmental, spatial and climate injustices.
Another goal of the LJI is to set up a sustained student internship program for high school, college and/or graduate students in these two geographies – South L.A. and the lower San Joaquin Valley – to work with local partners on issues related to environmental, spatial and climate justice.
Finally, LJI is working with potential donors to establish a scholarship+mentorship program for students of color entering the USC Masters of Landscape Architecture + Urbanism program.
